Star Wars coming to Dimension in 2016?

Remember how a couple of weeks ago it was announced that Star Wars would never come to the LEGO Dimensions Video Game? Well, it seems that there’s more to such statement.
According to Eurobricks user Sir von Lego, there are plans to merge the LEGO Star Wars theme and the LEGO Dimensions game in a not-so-distant future. Von Lego is one of the most reliable sources when it comes to rumours about future sets. For the past three years he has provided us with rumours that always turned out to be true. In this occasion, he stated:
" I heard about Lego Star Wars Dimension Packs in late 2016/ early 2017… Until then Disney will use Star Wars Characters in their own “dimension”-Game (don’t know the name…) "
If you don’t know, the reason why we don’t have LEGO Dimensions Star Wars packs right now is because of Disney Infinity 3.0. The main selling point of this version of the game is Star Wars and if LEGO were to do the same, it would directly compete with Disney’s game. However, it’s possible that Disney and LEGO might have come to an agreement.
As a general trend, all of these toys-to-life games get various iterations and sequel. I think it would come to no one’s surprise that we saw a LEGO Dimensions 2 by the end of next year. If that were the case, having Star Wars packs included in the game would be a major incentive and a strong selling point.
As of right now, there has been no official announcement from behalf of LEGO or Disney. It’s still pretty early on for them to say anything, so I guess will have to sit tight and wait till next year to find out more about this rumor. If thing turn out right, we might see some exclusive LEGO Dimensions Star Wars pack by Christmas next year!
